Electronic medical records

Selecting, deploying and rescuing EMR programmes.

What the problem looks like

Most EMR failures are procurement failures wearing a technical costume. A system is chosen on a feature matrix, deployed against a fixed calendar, and abandoned by clinicians whose consultation time it doubled.

The recoverable ones fail visibly in month three. The unrecoverable ones report green until the contract ends.

What I do about it

Requirements written from observed clinical workflow rather than a vendor questionnaire; selection and evaluation; deployment sequencing by facility readiness; and clinician-side change management with adoption measured per site, not per state.

Rescue work on programmes already in trouble: what to keep, what to migrate, what to stop paying for.

What I have done before

  • EHR deployed across 70+ primary healthcare centres

Lagos State primary healthcare network — deployment, training and adoption follow-up at facility level.

    As at March 2021

  • CPD and e-learning platform, MedEnhanz Resources

Physician Executive, 2015–2018 — built clinical content systems and the e-learning platform behind them.

    As at January 2018
